Parent, teacher, student interview!

On Wednesday the 24th of June, I had my parent, teacher, student interview at 4:50pm. On Monday and Tuesday was when I had the time to be prepared for my interview because I had to be the host of this interview by making the interview into an oral presentation to present infront of Ms. Paladino and my mum. The oral presentation had to be about a reflection of all of my learning this year so I decided to show my E- Port Folio because that is where I have reflected on most of my learning for this year. The presentation had to go for about 2 minutes, I started my presentation off by introducing my Eport Folio and why I chose to show it. Then I went through the Port Folio and talked about some of the slides and explained them to Ms. Paladino and mum. Once I had been through the Port Folio slides, I showed another short slide show that I had created. The slide show included some of my achievements and some things that I struggle with or are challenged by. I also showed some of my art work which I made and created. The art work that I showed was my tessellation and my abstract art. Once I had finished my oral presentation, Ms. Paladino, my mum and myself had a discussion about me and my learning. We discussed my report and then just talked about me in general. The interview went for about 10 to 15 minutes and I was happy how my interview went!

Power community visit!

Today on the 23rd of June our class had our second visit from some athletes who have come in to teach us about how we should and can live a healthy lifestyle. The athletes vary each week but the athletes who came today were Wade Thompson, Moronia Gerrard, Jonathon Giles and Matt Thomas. During this lesson we had a discussion about smoking and what the consequences are if you do take up smoking. We also learnt about a variety of chemicals that 1 cigarette contains. A fact that I learnt from this lesson was that each individual cigarette contains up to 4,000 different chemicals. It was a short lesson however I gained a lot of knowledge from this lesson.

Our Inquiry assignment!

Quote: “I suppose leadership at one time meant muscles; but today it means getting along with people.”  Mohandas. K Gandhi

My explanation:

This quote stood out to me because it is a simple, affective quote with a great message that stood out to me when I first read it. In my opinion I believe that leadership is about leading people and organising things such as sports days, carnivals and events. This quotes message is trying to tell us that leadership isn’t just about having the strength to be a leader, but its about being the one who gets along wth everyone as well as trying to be a good leader. This quote shows that strength isn’t the most important thing about leadership but getting along with others, accepting others and respecting others is the most important quality to have to be a leader. For example I am a sports day captain and during this past week I have been preparing and helping to organise the health hustle zinc for sports day. Together with all the other captains we have worked togethernto get along and as a team we headed towards success. So therefore to be a leader it requires you to be able to get along with others.

Our week 9 quote!

Our quote:

The only way to have a friend is to be one.      R.Emerson

My opinion:

I personally think that this weeks quote is trying to tell us a strong message about good friendship. So far, in my opinion I would say that this weeks quote has been the best quote that LA:21 have had, because it is a very short quote but it tells us a lot from these few words. My understanding of this quote is that if you want to have nice, caring friends then you have to be one yourself and you can’t just expect others to be nice if you are going to be nasty and the complete opposite of what you want others to be. So basically if you want to have friends, then you have to be a good one.

ARE LEADERS MADE OR BORN?

This is part of La:21’s Homework grid.

Task: Write a post of at least a paragraph in length on your blog, commenting on this question ARE LEADERS MADE OR BORN?

My opinion:

I don’t agree or disagree with them but I wil give you some reasons for both of them as to why I think that. Well, I do agree with the part that SOME leaders are born to be good leaders because their can be some good leaders who have been leading for most of their life and not have needed much constructive feedback as to how to be a good leader and then their can be other really good leaders who have had a lot of help as to how to be a good leader. So basically what I am trying to say is that their can be to leaders who are both at the same level of how good they are a leader but 1 of them was supported and taught how to lead and the other was already advanced and knew the responsibilities for being a good leader. At first I didnt agree with the way that the question reads because when I read it I thought that your decision is either one or the other but as you have read from my opinion mine is kind of in the middle of both.

What do you think of the question?

Our week 9 quote!

Our quote for this week is:

‘The only way to have a friend is to be one.” R Emerson

Well so far  I would say that this quote is my favourite quote that our class have had . One of the reasons about why I like it is because it is a very short quote but it gets to the point and also because I like the message that it is telling us!

Metaphores!!

Today in our literacy lesson Ms.Paladino taught us how to use metaphores and how you can link two completely different things together to make what we call a metaphore. Mr.Paladino read out some  of metaphores and similies to our class and then she would pick someone and their job was to tell the rest of the class if what she had read out was a metaphore or a similie. Some examples of metaphores that Ms.Paladino shared with us were; the pillow was a cloud, the bar of soap was a slippery eel and lots more but I cant think of what the others were. It was fun comparing metaphores and similies and I didn’t realise how much I learnt from that lesson because I thought that I understood the meaning but that helped me a lot.

Sports Day Captains!!

Today at school we had our vote to find out who our year 7 captains are going to be for sports day which is coming up in two weeks. Only year 7’s could nominate themselves to be a captain but the year 6’s took part in the vote. If you are a year 7 and you wanted to be a captain then you had to have a prepared speech ready to present it today infront of your house colour. I decided that I would nominate myself to be captain and so a few days ago I had prepared my speech ready to present infront of GREEN today. My speech went well but I was a bit nervous. My competition was against 4 other girls in the green team. After we finished voting, our teacher tallied up all the votes and then our class tacher announced the results. The results for green for girl captain were NP as our captain and ME as the vice captain. For the greens boy captains it was SS and LM but I am not sure who is captain and who is the vice captain.

Congratulations to everyone who became a captain and also to the rest who tried but didnt quite make it!!!!  :)

GO GREEN!!

This is greens chant: TURN ON THE RADIO WHAT DO WE HEAR, GREEN, GREEN GIVE US A CHEER, GO GREEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Softball!

Well done girls! This week was our best game that we have played but unfortunately we drew with Henley Beach. I was really happy because I got a home run. SC also made a home run but she was very lucky to have made 2 home runs in the one game. Hopefully we will win our next game because this week we were so close to winning and then to find out that it was a draw was upsetting.

Our girls team has improved a lot since our first game that we played. I remember that all of us girls couldnt event hit the ball except for SC but now we can all do that. Now we also understand the rules much better and it helps to know the rules because then you know what to do while you are playing.

Keep up the great work girls!!!!!   :)

Morphett Assembly!

Today on the 13th of March the Morphett Building had an assembly. Ms. Paladino decided that some members of our class would share their biography that they had published during the last few days. Their were about 5 of them who presented their biographies to all of the Morphett Building members. They all did a really good job!!! I also had a role in the assembly and my job is being part of the media crew. DA, JF.S and I are all part of the media crew. All we have to do is tape all of the items that are presented at the assembly. It is a fun job.

Well done to everyone who presented at the assembly!
